Hong KongThe Umbrella Movement is similar to the Institutional Revolutionary Part in that they both tried to improve the quality of life of the people. The government systems for both nations were both incomplete democracies. However, the PRI was the actual government while the Umbrella Movement was a group of citizens.
The Civil Rights Movement is similar to this movement because they both employ non-violence as a way of getting what they desire. However, Civil Rights focused more on equality for people as opposed to a choice in leaders, which is what the Umbrella movement wanted. The Umbrella Movement has much in common with the Green Movement. Both were started by activists who wished to better their government. However, the two movements differ in that the Umbrella Movement used non-violence tactics while the Green Movement protestors physically attacked their harassers. Civil RightsThe Civil Rights Movement is similar to Umbrella Movement in the sense of using non violent tactics to achieve their goals. However these are the only noticeable similarities between any of the movements to the Civil Rights Movement. The Umbrella Movement, Green Movement, and PRI were all focused on bettering the governments of their countries unlike the Civil Rights Movement which was to end social inequality and segregation. |
Mexican PRILike the Green Movement, the PRI was not a successful democratic movement. They’re similar in goals of reformation. Iran wanted to undo the corrupt presidency & voting systems. The PRI wanted a democracy & promoted labor rights.
The Umbrella Movement, the Civil Rights movement, & the PRI strived to better the everyday lives of the people. The PRI tried to reform from within the government while the Umbrella Movement was through a group of citizens. The Civil Rights Movement fought for social equality & the end of discrimination. Iran Green MovementThe Iran Green Movement, like many other democratic movements, did not succeed. Some of the various movements did not succeed, but the movements did not fail, they were suppressed or subsided. Many democratic movements shared common goals such as social or governmental equality. Democratic movements also shared the same strategic and tactical methods as peaceful protests, marches, and various demonstrations.
The Green Movement is closely related to the civil rights movement. They share very similar strategies, values, and a common end goal shared by the leaders. The Green movement is similar to the PRI movement, where some government officials sided with the people and began a new political party and had a great strategy by changing the government from within. This direct communication of the people and the government was a bonus for the PRI as the siding official put in requests for reforms and equal labor rights. All in all democratic movements begin with generally the same problem and through the movement the people wish to gain some form of equality. |
